ECHO HOTEL
The Echo Hotel is a collaborative graphic & interior design project I created with my partners Sophia Olsen & Savannah Riley. We were tasked with creating a boutique hotel with a farm-to-fork restaurant in Oxford, Ms. The building is on the square & was originally a Regions Bank.

CONCEPT
Echo is an upscale boutique hotel with an emphasis on self reflection. Our project is built around the work of William Faulkner, who was originally from Oxford. His writings often highlighted the parallels between society & nature, claiming those who treat other men & nature as an object were the root of evil. To address Oxford’s dark history, Echo aims to instill a sense of empathy for all living things within our guests after their stay.
With Echo, we put forward the belief of environmental determinism that nature can not only reflect but also drive society. Caring for people and the environment can greatly improve our daily lives. Nature speaks to us, but quietly & faintly. Echo is a tool to amplify that voice & allow people to hear what nature tells us.

The toiletries in the hotel guest rooms were designed to provide a sense of sustainable luxury.
Echo has custom designed carpet to use throughout the lobby & hotel rooms.
Echo utilizes shadow/light to mimic the dappled shadows created from trees & foliage in nature. This element presents itself in other areas of the system in hotel room keycards, way finding, & employee name tags.

Language is a crucial part of the project. The tone & personality of the brand presents itself through written text.
Echo features a "library checkout" within the hotel lobby for guests to further inform themselves on environmental determinism.
COLLABORATION
Our team goal was to seamlessly merge our practices to design a wholistic experience for our guests. Working side by side allowed us to combine Echo’s branding with the interior design, while custom designed artwork, carpeting, & intentional motifs ensured the cohesion of our different disciplines.
Echo's logo is featured on the rails of the winding staircase that greets our guests.
